Please recommend happiest, feel good book

Yes! Also "Wow, No Thank You" by Samantha Irby.

All of Lindy's books are pretty good, including Shrill (which is only loosely related to the show).

The first several Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. (One for the Money is the first). Very funny. God these books helped me through a hard time, nothing like triggering the happy / funny chemicals if you are in a really effed up place yourself.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. You get the Happily Ever After. It’s at times angsty, heartwarming, and very funny.

Someone already noted Red, White and Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston. This one also has the HEA, with some angst and humor in there, and lots of heart.

Maybe Mort or Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen. These will give overall good feels, with satire and adventure.

Lamb by Christopher Moore. Or anything from Christopher Moore.

I mean, Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe by Douglas Adams. Absurdist humor, satire.

Ooof, I really dislike this book so far. I've put it aside several times ... just not into it.

I’m glad to read this. I’m halfway through and still not into it. I keep thinking I’m missing something because everyone loves this book. I don’t find it funny and find the characters annoying.

NP Ooo, I haven't read this one in ages. Thanks for the reminder.

Anxious People was fun and enjoyable to read.

I love the title of that first book! I saw it at Loyalty and so related to the idea.

Stay with it, is my advice. I felt the same and suddenly it swept me up.

I liked Bachman's a Man Called Ove - I would describe that book as delightful. But I really disliked Anxious People - the structure just didn't work for me. He was trying to do too much in a very artificial structure. I definitely plan to red several of his other books, though.

I really like most of Alexander McCall Smith when I was to feel good about people/the world. His characters are fundamentally decent people. I LOVE the Portuguese Irregular verb series, the Isabel Dalhousie series is very good to just get you thinking about ethics, and the Detective Varg Series is just...just about a decent person who encounters slightly weird situations. I haven't even read the #1 ladies detective agency books, but they are so well regarded I bet they are good.

I just read my first book by Jenny Colgan (the Christmas bookshop) and it was gentle and sweet.

A Man Called Ove is a very good book, but NOT a happy book.
