How are the class of 21 freshman hanging in a few months in?

I'm very glad for this thread!

My DD is at UChicago and is doing well. I wanted to respond to this thread because last spring and part of summer, I was very anxious that she was not going to "step up" and do some adulting.

She was diagnosed with ADHD over the summer (don't get me started on why it took that long to figure out). She had a few sessions with an educational therapist and learned how to deal with some basic executive function issues (like, how to keep your schedule in your phone or in an address book vs. in your head)

I'm really hoping some of the worried parents of first-born HS seniors are reading this. A lot of growing up does happen and colleges are set up to maximize the chances that your kid will thrive.

+1 My DS was diagnosed with ADHD in 9th grade and I was probably more involved in the college application process than some parents would be. But he definitely learned through the process and I was pleased that in the first week of school he figured out how to work the process to change a class when he didn't like the one he'd been put in (it was all online and he knew that would not work for him). I didn't hear about it until he'd gotten it all worked out.
