that's eliminating a double taxation on middle class families in areas like ours. thank god for Dems. |
Yes, and this would be started with algebra in 8th grade. LCPS's latest plans would have even the advanced kids struggling to get to calculus, as they would be getting algebra in 9th grade. |
Yeah I can’t wait til class sizes balloon and we can’t properly teach and then we get blamed for that too |
Do you have any citation for that? |
+1 It’s BS. |
Sorry your kid bombed the SOL and math inventory. They only want the smart kids taking Algebra early. |
Lol as opposed to McAuliffe who sent his kids to private school? Both these candidates sent their kids to private school. Neither of them has any personal investment in public schools. Anyway... I took pre-algebra in 5th grade at my Catholic school. The fact that there might not be an option to take it in 6th grade around here is honestly pathetic. |
Liar. McAuliffe had a kid in public. |
It was the latest math pathway they put up. They later took it down, but have not provided a replacement plan. Their plan was to implement VMPI's blended classes in 2023-2024. They have already taken away algebra from 6th grade and substantially reduced it for 7th grade. |
It’s true. There are 75 8th graders taking Geometry at our high farms MS. My current 5th grade will not have that path available to her, even though my 8th grader did. |

In my experience, a lot of the Asian families are not aware of these changes. |
do you have a source for that claim? |
Would also love to see the source! |
Not hard to believe. There are over 200 at definitely two, and probably three, middle schools in Ashburn taking either Geometry or Algebra 2 in 8th grade. |
