DC was accepted at UD and Miami and chose Dayton after visiting both for accepted students events. They are both lovely campuses although Miami is larger. Miami has a much greater emphasis on greek life and the b-school dominates, neither of which were of interest. DC loves Dayton. |
How is the DMV alumni network? |
If you can get in? It has like a 90% acceptance rate. |
I know your post was from over a month ago, but did you watch the basketball tournament in Charleston this weekend? The announcers were saying that Charleston had become "Dayton south" because of all the fans that arrived to cheer on the Flyers. Cheerleaders and Band came too! The alumni support is amazing! |
Really? Large swaths of the campus are adjacent to one of the nicest suburbs in Ohio, a hospital, and a fast food/restaurant area specifically developed for UD students. Yes, there is a more working class neighborhood near the campus, but is generally fine. |
Do most of the grads end up in Ohio? |
I'm a UD alum and I've said this before on this board - Dayton is a special school. I think part of it is the size and that most undergrads live "on campus" all four years. The housing for upperclass students is very unique, with a mix of single family homes and apartments in the student neighborhood (aka "the ghetto.") If I see someone wearing Dayton swag, I'll say hello. It doesn't matter if they are a current student, 29 years old, 49 years old or 89 years old. They all stop and chat - we ask each other when we graduated and where we lived on campus. And yes, the "Flyer Faithful" travel very well with the basketball team. |
It’s in Ohio who sends a kid there |
I think we've chatted via these posts before! ![]() About two years ago, my son was considering Dayton and I was asking advice about where to sit when George Mason was hosting Dayton for a basketball game. My son is at Dayton now and loving it! |
Jesus Christ, you Dobbs dorks just won't go away. |
DC accepted. No mention of aid. Will we hear at a later time, or are we basically out of luck? |
I have a current student at Dayton and also a high school senior who was just accepted at Dayton I can't remember where I saw it, but I think I remember seeing that accepted students would receive information about scholarships in late November. I think that is merit based. Also, from my current student, I remember even more scholarship money offered (I think this was financial based) around March or April. |
Thanks! |
While I have a DC who nearly EDed to an OH school, we are not dorks. |
I'm talking about the losers who show up to every thread about an Ohio school to say they'd never let their kids (particularly daughters) go to college there. Most are too dumb to even realize that Ohio voted to keep abortion legal. |
