Best Academic and Lacrosse School

Anonymous
This thread is about the small number of elite schools that have top lacrosse programs (by definition that’s D1 and most years make it into the later rounds of NCAA tourney) and are the best academically - as in top 10-20 and 1450+/34+ test scores.

That’s a tiny number of schools.

Stop making it personal.

This is a really dumb discussion. Like most of these boys and girls lacrosse cannot be compared. The fact that some great lacrosse schools have lower acedmics may be irrelevant to an interested player. With that, UVA has to be the top school by this criteria. 2x defending champs.

For boys. Not girls. And UVA is a safety school for kids looking at the top academic schools like Ivies, Duke, Stanford, MIT level.

This is why this is a dumb thread/question. Those who care about girls programs and boys programs are not the same people. Playing for an ACC team like Duke may be more appealing to a top boys player than D3 MIT or club at Stanford. I would think it may be different in girls lacrosse. But don’t really care that much.

are you kidding me? UVA is a safety school for kids looking at top academic schools? where did you go to school? you have absolutely zero context.

You are now in troll territory with zero credibility

Agreed with UVA poster. UVA is one of the top schools in the country, and oh by the way, they are great at Lacrosse. People on these threads are fools.

Hopkins for men, but the women's program is not that strong and barely in the top 40. Strong academically, of course, but not the lacrosse powerhouse it is for men.

Final 2021 US Lacrosse ranking for Hopkins women was 11, the men were out of the top 20.

All programs have ups and downs, and Hopkins currently is down, but it has the most rich lacrosse tradition of any school in the nation. Any list of schools with good academics and lacrosse should include Hopkins.

Maybe so on the men's side but Syracuse has a claim to that also and Maryland (nearly 100 years of varsity lacrosse and never a losing season, 12 National Championships dating back to 1928, about 3 dozen conference championships). On the women's side, no one comes close to Maryland.

Holy crap. Are you people this damn stupid? We are talking about TOP ACADEMIC SCHOOLS. In no reality is UMD or Syracuse a top school. They are middle is the road. Not even as good as UVA. And got the idiots posting above - you must not have kids in college who were academic super stars in high school because UVA is not a top tier school for a truly serious, intellectually superior student with all As (at least from a top tier private where most lax kids go) and top scores.

And yet it is still a safety school for many.

What’s the issue here?

The issue is your stupid, incorrect use of the phrase "safety school" and the word "many".

Sounds like poster's kid got rejected from UVA.

Did you read the prior post to which the comment you responded to was responding? It said "[Hopkins] has the most rich lacrosse tradition of any school in the nation." UVA is a fine school with a good lacrosse program.
