Weird that people can't deal with reports of actual cases and when someone bring up reality they just accuse them of wanting to shut down schools.

Actually I do not want school shut down which is why I'd like to know what's being done at WHS.

Denial and refusal to take action could shut school down though.

+1 I also would like to know the nexus and how the spread then occurred. I also want to know what is being done to mitigate and contain it. If these students were athletes then they were (supposed to be) vaccinated. 26 breakthrough cases is A LOT plus 3 teachers who also were (supposed to be) vaccinated. This is scary. We need transparency.

Athletes aren’t mandated to be vaccinated until 11/8. If they want to play w/o masks they get tested every day. There were a couple of unvaxxed kids on the FB team and SPECULATION is that is how some kids got it.

However it is good news that the other players were getting tested every day, so it could be limited, and a game was cancelled out of caution. I think it is a win for the process.

That's a very odd comment.

What information are you actually seeking that DCUM can provide? How does speculation and gossip help?

Isn’t it obvious that high schoolers were together in a big group? Possibly a party, a game, a concert. It’s not going to change APS policy.

So you decry speculation and gossip then you SPECULATE that it was POSSIBLY a game, party, concert. Nice.

Does anyone have actual information about all of these cases?

Well we all can't be as relaxed as you are about a Covid outbreak.

WHS had indoor HoCo last Sat while YT and WL's were outdoors. Watch that number to climb much higher the next few days.

I still cannot wrap my head around that decision. So dumb.

Yep. What a stupid decision.

Agreed. Who cares?!? This is a virus that will be here the rest of our lives. Most of those kids are vaccinated anyway (not that if they weren't vaccinated, they would be in any danger anyway considering an unvaccinated kid has less risk than a vaccinated 30 year old).

Well I might be reading into this too much, but I think what would have made PP happy is to have the event outdoors, not shut down the school.

Yes, that is correct. You've figured out my endgame. My goal is for all schools to be shut down. Probably until the end of 2023, but I will get back to you about that.

I’m confused by the Qualtrics data - it shows Wakefield as having the highest number of Covid cases at 33, but only 1 close contact with all those cases? For example Washington Liberty has 23 cases and 126 close contacts. Does this make sense?

You are looking at the data from the very beginning, including last school year. Look at this school year.

Wakefield students who purchased tickets had to show their Covid vaccination card or provide proof of a negative test within 48 hours of the dance and wear masks at the dance. Students were given the choice of inside or outside and at the time they were told there would be no refunds or rain date in the event there was inclement weather - so they chose inside. (They were told after the fact that there could have been refunds but the decision was already made.) They are all together inside and masked for school days with twice as many students and no proof of vaccination/negative test required.
