Look most people do this and their homes just look blah. If you want that as your home style follow the advice in this thread.

Your home should reflect your personal style, even if that’s “blah.” You don’t want to live in a house that’s a total showcase for a designer if you don’t share their aesthetic. It makes you look foolish.
