party food other than pizza?

I've done pans of Mac and cheese from Noodles and Co and I served it with applesauce pouches and cutup fruit.

While something like this sounds good in theory, my concern would be how to keep it warm until serving time at an outdoor party. Fries and nachos are going to get cold and soggy fast. There's a reason pizza is so popular. It's cheap, easy, and will stay warm in the box for awhile and is still edible even if not hot.

I looked into the long subway sandwiches and they were way more expensive than pizza.
We did one party with bagels, cream cheese, fruit platter and I did a baked egg casserole thing and it was all extremely popular.
I think empanadas could also work.
We once did chicken wings in addition to pizza because my kid went thru a non pizza phase. It’s still not his favorite—he way prefers meat sandwich, chicken nuggets, etc.

I always try to add fruit.

We had a party at a venue that had a “no pizza” policy so we served sandwiches (pb&j and turkey/cheese on Hawaiian rolls), sushi platter (California roll and veggie rolls), fruit, chips.
Sort of random, but everyone found something to eat.

What a curious policy!

I like this. My family is vegetarian, so it’s always nice when there is a meat-free option at parties.

My kids would ADORE sushi at a party! And I think many of their friends would too!

Isn't pizza vegetarian?

Approximately how many in a platter?

nvm. just checked their website and looks like 64 in a small tray $33.50, 120 medium tray $58.

But the nuggets are made in peanut oil, so if any child has allergy it will be a problem.

Plus the whole anti-gay thing.

Sandwich platters are a nice pizza alternative.

We also like a selection of appetizers, like mini quiches, cheese sticks and crackers and fruit and veggie trays with hummus. Cava has some nice appetizers on the catering menu.

OP here. Can you recommend a place that does sandwich platters? And thanks to the PPs for suggestions. We don’t do Chik-fil-a, so welcome any other ideas. I think our options are probably pizza or grocery store platters but hoping to find other options. Cava is a good idea too.

Yeah, I like cava mini falafel sandwiches and their spanikopita. Always a hit for work catered lunches. Wegmans sandwiches are pretty good and they have party platters. A friend also said Harris teeter party platters were good.

Kids definitely won’t like those!

Are you kidding? My kids would LOVE this!

?? what??

Cava, dumplings, dim sum, etc way too messy, unappealing to most kids (except those with snowflakes), and hard to eat.

There's a reason pizza and nuggets are the go-to foods for kid parties.

Do you know what dumplings are? Kids LOVE dumplings!!

Far messier then dumplings.

Cheese is vegetarian. It is not VEGAN. Google is your friend.

Um, yes it is. I think you are confused about vegetarian vs. vegan.
