what do you give kids for breakfast?

Well, this morning was a baggie of frost loops in the car !! We will be healthy for (mostly) the rest of the day!

For the love of all things, is there anything beyond locally grown, organic heirloom kale that is acceptable to eat on this board? No carbs, no milk, no animal products…

It’s food. It shouldn’t cause the level of anxiety it does around here. Okay

Totally agree! We are a carb loving family most days and sausage, eggs, and bacon eating on Sundays. While our milk and butter are low cholesterol/fat most of the time, we don't go out of our to make everything else that way. Moderation is key.

Don’t you have a Jazzercise class you could be at right now?

I would try giving them whatever light thing appeals to them at home, even if it's not a "stick with you" breakfast (maybe a favorite cereal) and then send a protein bar or other protein snack on the bus for when real hunger kicks in.

It’s a lot to eat eggs every single day.

Oatmeal with prunes or other fruit - splash of cream or milk on top, sometimes mix in pb or top with nuts for extra protein and fat

Whole milk yogurt or kefir with frozen berries and puffed grains

Wheat tortilla with vegetable scrambled eggs inside and grilled… a little ham in the scramble if we have it

Is it actually bad to eat eggs 5x/week?

I'm really curious. What do you make your kids for breakfast?

PP's children eat steamed kale for every meal.

Yikes. Lots of "tell me you have an eating disorder without telling me you have an eating disorder" energy on this thread. You won't have a heart attack from eating an egg, I promise.

Water. Occasionally gruel. Depends on how much they bring mommy the day before.

Anonymous wrote:Those of you giving milk, is it cows milk? Organic? I’m always concerned about the hormones, especially for girls. I don’t think I’d feel comfortable with my kids drinking it every day.

Yeah, organic 2% for my skinny tween.

DP, but why did you feel the need to qualify that it’s 2%, and why did you qualify that your tween is skinny?

Hey milk peeps…start a new conversation? That’s way past the original question.

Plus y’all are digging in a bit further than is healthy.

My 3 year old currently gets breakfast at daycare, but starting next month is switching to preschool so I need to give breakfast M-F.

On weekends we usually do eggs/toast/fruit one morning and cinnamon rolls/pancakes/waffles and fruit the other morning.

Once I have to give breakfast on weekdays, I plan on offering milk, fruit plus one of the following: eggs, toast, yogurt, oatmeal or premade pancakes/waffles.

I may also try smoothies and make ahead breakfast burritos or sandwiches.
