There was a thread about this a couple years ago (preCOVID) where it was intimated that being the kid of a big donor was the best way to get the coveted party girl role.

Small, good listener and white. They'll throw in one or two black and asian kids it looks like for diversity. If your kid is South Asian, Arab or Latinx, count on a role that need a lot of bodies on stage like Angels or Soliders. They don't seem to get the same "representation matters" treatment.

I'm not sure how true this is, but I can see where you're coming from. I don't think there are many south asian, arab or latino dancers at TWSB in general.

Anyway, good luck tomorrow to everyone who has a DD auditioning!

This was our first go around, but it seemed a little haphazard...maybe because of how it was organized for COVID?
What percentage if the kids typically end up getting roles?
And they told my daughter we would find out on Friday, is that what everyone heard?

What level? We're Level 2 and they seemed super organized this year. Maybe it's because DD just went in and I could grab my coffee and relax. I'm not sure what it was like inside. DD was really happy to back and didn't say anything negative about how it was run.

Friday is later than most years.

My DD (1B) auditioned today and was told that the role announcement would be Friday. Fingers crossed everyone

I thought it seemed well organized, as usual, as well. Good luck to everyone!

Hope all the kids get a role they enjoy! My DS dances at another studio, but his excitement over all things Nutcracker (that studio already started rehearsals) is infectious so I am following this thread, lol.

My level 3 said they were just a little tight on time, but otherwise went well. I'm with 20:34 - drop off and get coffee was great!

Same! My Level 2 kid wants to be a Party Girl desperately. Many of her friends got that role in 1A. Fingers crossed! Good luck to all your dancers.

PP whose kid is at a different studio but is overly invested in this thread - I am curious why this role is so desirable! Is it purely for the costumes or do the party girls get more stage time? Some of the dance moms at our studio were comparing notes about roles and I got the impression their DDs were mostly interested in certain things from a hair/costume perspective.

They get a good bit of stage time and pretty dresses. I asked my DD why she wanted to be a party girl, and she said "because its the best" very descriptive 11 year old!

NP- lots of stage time, get to be in dances with many of the primary performers (the professional adults, Clara, etc) and beautiful costumes. Soldiers - it’s hard to even tell which kid is yours!

The costumes, the curls, and the scene is a lot of fun. It also doesn't help that it seems so exclusive too and therefore, "the best", it's the only role Julie's daughter has played and many Party Girls play the role multiple years in a row, skipping over the Snow Angel and Solider roles all together... So unfortunately, my previously Snow Angel daughter feels like she's already been regulated to the group who will never get to be a party girl. Doesn't stop her from hoping though!
