Organization consultant

Would like to hire someone to come into my house and identify the products yhsy could allow us to organize our lives. There is too much clutter but I go to the container store and I don't know what to buy. Alternatively, I have some organization items (storage bins etc) and they just get filled up. I don't understand how to use something on a daily basis to reduce clutter. I need help! Has anyone had a professional consult? How much might this cost?

A consultant may be a good idea.

One tip: Do not start out your decluttering with a trip to the Container Store. Declutter first, see what's left, figure out where you can put it using closets, containers, etc you already have, then go to the Container Store to fill in gaps.

OP, someone to try is Nicole Anzia at neatnik.org. She is a one-person organizational service. She works in DC and close-in Md. and Va. You can check her web site. She also contributes a column on organizing in the Post every other Thursday. Good luck!

This is good advice. George Carlin had some insightful thoughts on stuff:
