Steve and Kate's Camp Feedback

Anonymous
I'm wondering how this camp would be for a rising first grader. I've seen good reviews of it on my local listserv, but mostly from parents with slightly older kids. Although I wish it weren't the case, my son isn't all that self-directed, which is my main potential concern.

Any more info on the Alexandria location? This camp sounds neat and I have a camp already lined up for my 6 yr old, but thinking of changing. It seems like this camp could be chaos if not done right.

We are signed up for the Alexandria location for this summer for our 5.5yr old. Eager to see how she likes it.

Does anyone have feedback?

I just posted on another thread re: Brent location - bottom line - so far so great!

Our rising K is at the Alexandria location now and looooving it. The food alone is worth going for!

How do they decide on the locations? Brent is great for some. But my place -> Brent -> to my work would be hell.

Is it just good bc it's drop in or are the activities truly better than other camps?

The activities are better than any other camp we've done before, with the exception of Gallaudet (which no longer runs a camp). Admittedly, we've never done any of the higher-priced options (Head First, Potomac, etc.). They have actual sewing machines! Karaoke machines! Ipads set up to do animation! Etc. Very cool.

My DC started yesterday and had a great experience. They were very responsive to needs of risking kindergarteners, ensured friends were made, and followed up when there was a minor injury.

From my kiddo, the food was "delicious" and waking up this AM was easy as there were so many activities that weren't explored yesterday that nonetheless got his attention. I believe making cinnamon rolls was first, then sewing, followed by music video.

My kids are loving it--at the Alexandria location.

We just heard terrible reviews

My kids adore it. They are 7 and 9.5.
They love the freedom and the creative studios. My 7 year old comes home with many creations! I love the flexibility.
We live very close to the Alexandria location so it works out perfectly for us.
Well run, counselors are engaged, plenty of staff.
Considering the hours and the meals, it's a pretty good price.
