Can anyone offer insights to these schools in Gaithersburg? Other recommendation FOR Gaithersburg schools? Thanks!

Have you checked MoCo's School at a Glance page for these? Or do you (also) want more personal information?

Northwest is OK, but there are better upcounty high schools.

I'd also be interested in response to this - what about private upcounty schools (from pre through high) -are there are any particularly good oens

Private? I don't know of any that go through high school. Barnesville, Butler (Montessori, Darnestown), and Seneca Academy (Darnestown) are pre-K-8. I'm sure there are more with religious affiliations, but don't know them off the top of my head.

This is the OP-- I appreciate your feedback-- I am looking for personal experience, I guess. I regularly check MCPS "At a Glance" in order to try to predict the quality of the schools, but based on what I see there and what I read on "America's Top School" (US News and WP), etc..., it doesn't seem like those scores are what go into the total package or the school. I also see that on the Schools at a Glance, Diamond looks alright, but Lakelands Park look less good based on those test scores.

I am interested in any feedback on this cluster as well -- thanks.

OP (and others), don't know if you are still there or not, but at the bottom of the Schools at a Glance page for each school is a survey of both parents and students. If you read enough of them, you do start to see a true difference in school satisfaction. It's not a one-on-one discussion about the schools, but I found them very interesting.
