I am a year out on the process, but starting to think about where we will be in the Fall of '10 .
We live in bounds for Janney and love the neighborhood aspect of the school. I see children walk past my house daily and love the idea of my child being able to walk to/from school. Our concern is that just when our son will be starting his school experience, there will be a bunch of turmoil at the school as construction will begin (I am guessing ?). Would you start your child in K in a school that was under construction (or scheduled for construction)? I think that the early years of education are formative and that we should try to give the best foundation possible. Not having any older children, I do not know how much consideration to give to the construction issue. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
We are also in bounds for Janney and have put our daughter's name into the PreK lottery for other schools in the area for the reason you mentioned (potential major construction at Janney). |
Dd was at Hardy Middle when it was renovated. The school was moved to swing space in Hamilton over the by the Brentwood Post Office. Was supposed to be 1 year but morphed into 2 and dd never got to go to the renovated school.
However, we were already OOB for Hardy and Hamilton was closer to us but there was some adjustment needed because dh worked near Hardy, so car pooling was more complicated. Don't know if Janney will have the same kind of experience but just want to mention that these things take longer than they're supposed to so be prepared for that. |
