Help us come up with ways to make this home nicer mls 1990533

Anonymous
My daughter is making an appointment to see this home 1990533 mls. She is in love with the location, neighborhood and that price! She asked me for advice on what I would change about it. It's hideous and we both know it. Her Reno budget is 4k for things like paint and light fixtures. What would you do (besides cringe like it did towards this home) . At her price point and location needs, this one is hard to beat.

NP here. This is what I got when I copied and pasted the MLS# into a real estate search engine. There are no photos.

I'm just floored at being able to own a home under 100K

New window coverings, paint, light fixtures and good furniture/decorations (e.g. shower curtain). May need new carpet (can't tell). She could make it look lovely. You sound kinda mean.

Get rid of the vertical blinds.
New fixture over the dining table
New carpet in bedrooms.

Yes, you do. Stop with the "hideous" and "cringe" comments. Be happy that your child is making something for herself and not mooching off of you. Nothing worse than a parent looking down her nose at her kid. That's just toxic. Be excited for her. Be positive.

Agree with this. Fix these and I don't think it's that bad. Presumably she's young. Her first place should be modest.

My car cost nearly that much. Seriously OP once the crap is moved out and it's repainted it's fine. It's low builder grade finishes but she won't be able to change much for her budget and its not worth investing much if you don't get a return on the sale. Focus on the usual quick fixes-paint, hardware/knobs, some nice curtain panels.

I agree, OP sounds mean.

New window treatments (I would do panels and sheers; new light fixtures; small-scale furniture; paint the vanity in the bathroom and put a frame on the mirror as well as a new shower curtain.

In the dining room, if that door is to a china closet, replace it with a glass-fronted door.

Crown molding? Updated paint colors. New vanity in bathroom.

"Hideous" -- give me a break! It's a starter home. Once all the stuff is out, paint and new window treatments will make a huge difference.

+1

It's a perfectly fine home, just messy. The only obvious thing I dislike is the black blinds. So I'd make window treatments a priority. Replacing flooring will also make a big impact, although more expensive.
