I'd love to hear your experiences (great good bad or ugly)?
I'm fearful they are a pain to clean... |
We love ours and it's probably easier to clean b/c you're not reaching up to do it. |
We had one at a rental. Overall it was fine, but one thing I didn't like about it is that the door is automated -- you press a button to open it, and it slides open. You can't pull it open or push it shut any faster, and it was annoying to sit and wait while the thing opened and closed. Especially annoying if you're asking someone to move out of the way for a sec while you throw something in or take something out.
It's not like it takes minutes or something, but it's sort of the equivalent of a 4-step escalator that you have to stand on and can't just walk up. |
+1 love being able to stir things without taking them out first. |
I have a Wolf. I also bought a countertop model from target because my bottle sanitizer wouldn't fit inside the Wolf drawer. We never use the drawer. Like PP mentioned, it is too slow to open and close. In 3 years, I have seen NO upside to having a drawer vs. a countertop.
It only functions as a conversational piece when I have guest over. They woo and ahh while I roll my eyes. |
Ours is ok but I miss stopping the microwave by just opening the door. Traditional models: if something sounds like its getting too hot I just open the door and it just shuts off. |

read the reviews! The 5 stars are from people who love the design (it is awesome), but the 1 star reviews are from people who have used it longer before reviewing and it's broken. Btw, Sharp has the patent on the drawer microwave. They make all of them, so if you buy the fancier Thermodor or Wolf, it's the same as the Sharp, just more expensive. |
I have a Wolf drawer too. It's ok. I'm sure it was expensive, and it's probably not worth it. It's annoying to have toddlers trying to play with it and stand in front of it all of the time. I can't make marshmallows for rice crispy treats in it because it's not deep enough. I guess if your kids are older it would be better. |
We have one b/c it works with our kitchen layout. I heard they are not the most reliable, but ours is going on one year and no issues yet... |
