Egg retrieval

I'll be having my ER in a couple of weeks (still on BC), and I would like to know if it is your doctor that performs the surgery or if each clinic has a surgeon especially designated for this.
BTW, I'm at CFA, and this just occurred, so, didn't have time to ask yet.

Our RE was Dr. Abassi and Shen is the retreaval.

My RE at CFA was Abassi and she performed the retrieval. I think it depends on the scheduling. They try to have your doctor do it, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I think if your retrieval is on the weekend, odds are it will be your doctor. If it's during the week it depends on their other appointments.

I am at SG. Usually the doctor on call does the procedure. However my RE came in specifically to do my retrieval the first time. The next one was on a weekend, so my regular doctor was not there. The other doctor did an amazing job though.

If your Dr. is available, he or she will probably do it. If not, someone other MD in the practice will do ER.

I am not the OP, but have some questions as well, are the ER done in early morning like the IUIs?
Seems to me nothing happens during the afternoons at fertility clinics (just joking!).

It is probably the scheduling thing. You want to do surgeries and invasive procedures in the morning, while consults can be done in the afternoons. I think it depends on the office and its staff.

I was at Dominion, but yes, my Dr did it.

I think it depends on the clinic. My final ultrasound ended up being on a Sunday, so another doctor did it. The day of transfer, they were short on nurses, so two doctors did it. Mine and another at the clinic. It was kind of funny, actually. They were shop talking in front of me. "So this is how I do it, with a q-tip blah blah blah, how about you?"

They do the ERs in the morning because 1) they time it specifically to the HCG trigger, which is generally taken at night because that's when it's easiest for most people, 2) you're under anesthesia, and it's less time you have to go during the day without eating. 3) They need time to process the sperm and then fertilize the egg, and 4) it allows you to spend the day recovering.
