| I was told to start BCP last night (CD3) and I forgot to pick up my prescription... Stupid, I know! Did I totally screwed this cycle? I'm being supressed because RE wants to do a sonohystogram before starting injections. Will this messed up anything? Should I take it now or wait until tonight? I called the nurse but she's with a patient, emailed and waiting to hear back. The sonohystogram is scheduled for early next week. |
| Take it now. |
| This happened to me and I was told I had to wait until the next cycle. You need to make sure your nurse knows you were off a day (if you don't wait to hear from her). Its not the day of the cycle that counts, its the lab schedule, which has been made in advance. Depending on your clinic, they may or may not be able to accomodate your adjusted schedule. |
| PP here. I was assuming this is for an IVF cycle. If its for IUI or other, it probably isn't a big deal. But for IVF it is, at least at my clinic. |
What clinic are you with? |
Not sure I agree with it having to do with the lab schedule... people stim shorter or longer than planned all the time which would also change the lab schedule on short notice. Op how many days of bcp do you have? I think SG likes 21 but I've heard some other clinics protocols use 10-14 days. So I think you're probably ok but check with your nurse if it'd reassure you. |
Nope. Has everything to do with the lab schedule. Ask your nurse. |
I checked and nurse said it was fine. I don't know how long Ill be on BCP yet as the only reason I'm taking them is because my lining looked funky on the sono done cd3 and re wants a sonohystogram to rule out polyps so we shall see what happens next. |
So are you saying I stimmed a day longer than planned in order to accommodate the lab? That's no different than OP starting the cycle a day later than planned. Sorry, I still disagree with you. |
So I guess 2+2 = 5. One cycle I was started on day 7. The next cycle I was started on day 3. Asked the nurse, she said it has to do with the lab schedule. They understand that people Stim for different lengths of time. If you don't understand it, ask your nurse. |
Well sure, I guess you're correct in a general sense that you can't have 100 people start stims on a Sunday and nobody the rest of the week but having one person start one day later than planned still is not big deal in the grand scheme of things because not everybody stims the exact length of time as planned anyway. So in that regard, the "lab schedule" is obviously not set in stone. |
| Yeah, the BCP are largely about scheduling -- and preparing lining. But once you start stimming there is obviously less that can be done to manipulate the calendar or timing. Those eggs are ready when they're ready! |
| SGF is pretty strict about scheduling (the initial BCP and stims, anyway). |
But they do build in some flexibility. For my first round of IVF everything went exactly as planned and we stuck to schedule. The second time around, things were not 'quiet' enough at the baseline ultrasound so they had me take a few days more of BCPs. |
Yes, the protocols do say that BCPs may need to be extended. But the INITIAL scheduling was done in accordance with the lab. |
