How to find an area rug that doesn't shed?

We currently have a rug in the area where we mainly play on the floor with the baby, and it sheds like crazy. If I dare to sit on it while wearing black pants, I emerge looking like a yeti.

What sort of rug should I look for that is likely NOT to shed so much?

You just need to vacuum it frequently until it stops, normally a few months. Or you can go and by one made with acrylic fibers.

You can get one made of artificial fiber... synthetic, not wool.

It will stop shedding once it's been vacuumed enough. Or get a synthetic one.

You need to get one that is hand hooked, hand looped, or machine hooked and not hand/machine tufted.

I've been vacuuming my moroccan shag rug for weeks now - still sheds like crazy. Hoping maybe in a few months it'll stop but dunno - it's pretty shaggy.... Bought it on sale - it was much much cheaper than comparable rugs. Think I know why now. Sigh - you usually get what you pay for.
