CCPC admission letters

Does anyone know when the letters for Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church Nursery school go out? Thank you!

According to the post card they sent us stating that they received our application, they mail notifications on March 15.

Since 3/15 is a Sunday, are they going to mail letters out COB today? The mail already came for today and nothing from them.

I called and they said letters are going out this Monday. (And no, they wouldn't tell me over the phone. )

We have still not received anything, and we live near the school so I would think we would have if they mailed yesterday. Has anyone else heard?

I talked to them yesterday and the letters were being mailed out yesterday. I didn't get anything in the mail today either, so I guess it will be coming tomorrow.

I have to say, it's really annoying that it's taken them so long to get out the letters, especially since after returning students and siblings, they don't have many spaces available anyway. We went ahead and sent in a deposit to another school, so we won't be going even if we do get in. It would have been nice to know whether CCPC was an option before having to decide. Oh well!

Our waitlist letter arrived today. We're in the neighborhood. Better luck to everyone else!

We were also waitlisted, but had already sent in a deposit to another school and weren't going to accept CCPC anyway. Still would have liked to have learned earlier though!

Ack!! We got a spot for my 2 year old, but for the MW AFTERNOON class. I don't know if I can forgo his nap, but I'm assuming that it's pretty hard to get into CCPC in the first place, right? We live in the neighborhood and it's the closest school to our house.

We were waitlisted for the morning class too, but had already sent in a deposit to our first choice anyway. We didn't apply to the afternoon class. I'd rather go to another school- any other school- than risk upsetting our afternoon nap. I've always heard that pretty much anyone can get into the afternoon class since afternoons aren't desirable, but most morning spots go to siblings. Looks like it's true!

I hadn't heard that ANYONE can get into the afternoon class. Isn't CCPC one of the most desired play-based preschools (I'm not counting the "feeder" schools, just the neighborhood schools)? Do they always have openings for the afternoon class?

Although I'm sure some years are tougher than others, I don't know of anyone who has applied to the afternoon program over the years who hasn't gotten in. I know of one person who was waitlisted, but got a spot shortly after the deposits were due. I've even know of two different families that didn't apply initially, but called the school the spring or summer before school started and asked if there was availibility and they got spots in the afternoon classes (so obviously they weren't full).

Yes, CCPC is a great school and is highly desirable, but I wouldn't say it's any more desirable (or difficult to get into) than any of the other neighborhood schools. I'm sure the reason the afternoon spots don't always fill up is because many people like the other schools equally as much and would rather have mornings if given the option. I know that was the case with us. If we had had the option of mornings at CCPC vs. the other CC school we chose, it might have been more of a toss up.

When we applied to the 2 yo class a couple of years ago and were waitlisted, I called the director every month (at her instruction) to check on the waitlist status. Every month, she asked if there was any chance we'd consider afternoons; the clear implication was that a spot was ours for the taking.

Just circling back on this thread. I was waitlisted for CCPC and just got a call on Monday that they had an opening in the afternoon class but will give first priority for any open morning classes to the afternoon people that had it as their first choice.
