any rumor mill floating around re applicant pool for STA C Form (4th grade) for next year? Son applying....

The big rumor is that there's a parent who is so nuts she's asking about the "rumor mill" related to a bunch of 4th graders!

There were about 80 kids taking the test for 4th grade and, after Beauvoir student acceptance, only 7 or so spots left open. That's a very low percentage if you're not coming from Beauvoir.

Don't feel bad for wanting to know. But it's not known yet how many Beauvoir kids will be coming (some will apply to other schools, for example), and it's not known how many of the students that came to the test day actually went through with the full application. I think it's fair to assume it will be quite competitive -- anywhere from 6 to 10 students per open slot depending upon how things fall out. However, remember that St. Albans has other entry points in their Lower School and of course for Upper School.

In the meantime, hang in there.

I've heard that this year more boys at Beauvoir than usual are looking at other schools. Maybe this will mean more spots for other boys.

At the parents tour, AD said they are accepting about 40 kids from Beauvoir, at least that's how I understood it. Could be wrong, but pretty sure I heard correct.

That can't be right, that would be just about ALL the boys in the 3rd grade class. There are about 80 kids per grade at Beauvoir (starting in K), roughly half are boys. I'm sure it's still a lot but unlikely to be everyone.

There were definitely fewer than 80 boys there on testing day. I would put it at closer to 50 and that was applicants for both 4th and 5th grades.

Don't Beauvoir parents already know if their kid is accepted into STA? Last year, I think, they knew by Dec/Jan.

Yes, and I think they had to accept by the end of January.
