Does 452 qualify as "low beta" for 4 weeks pregnant?

I believe I am 4 weeks and a few days pregnant. I think I ovulated around the 19th of Jan. and Monday (14dpo) I got a very strong positive on a safeway brand pregnancy test. I went in on Tuesday to my doc. to take a blood test and confirm. They called today and said my beta was low on my hcg blood test. It was 452 and the medical assistant said it should be in the thousands. She also said that the PA who looked at my results wants me to come back in next Tues. for another hgc blood test to see if everything is progressing and growing since my levels are low, before I schedule an ultrasound for 7 weeks, etc. She said it could just mean I am earlier in my pregnancy than they thought (maybe three weeks.... If i ovulated later than I thought).

My question: When I checked the American Pregnancy Association website, it says that my levels (452) are higher than normal for 4 weeks. Am I looking at something wrong? This was a traditional conception, not IVF, IUI, etc.

I would call back, but honestly I don't think the medical assistant knows what she is talking about and I know I won't get to speak with a doctor (probably need to switch practices, but that is for another discussion).

Any insight if these levels are normal for 4 weeks? Should hgc be in the thousands at 4 weeks?

My beta at 14dpo (via IUI) was 25 (successful pregnancy). Mine was low, but I'd say yours looks good!

Thanks PP! Everything I have seen seems to say so too, so I am very confused as to why they want me to repeat and why she said they said my beta was low...
Maybe it's different if you conceive not via IUI or IVF. Or they think I am further along than 4 weeks... anyway, it is generally annoying and upsets me

Maybe they have your O date wrong, read you results from someone else, or you misheard and they said 45.2. 452 at 14 dpo is great!

452 is really good for 14dpo. As in there might be more than one in there good. I think they like to see 100+ at that time. So congrats!

Another thought is if you have long cycles they may be basing you'rertes off your last menstrual period, thinking you are further along than you really are. The first ultrasound is a dating ultrasound and they should adjust your due date according to measurements at that time.
