I love this. She is being pressured to speak Spanish and deflects:

Hilary's mom was an assistant prof, not an associate prof. And I don't think the relative meaning of those two terms changes from place to place in the United States. She wasn't tenured, she was a trial professor and then went into her own "integrative medicine" practice. |
| This thread has run its course, now it's just lunatics, similar to the subreddit psychos. Truth is this forum had nothing to do with it, but some of you crazies are convinced you brought her down -- now who's crazy? Godspeed to Hillary and Alec and their beautiful family. Alec is one of the most charming entertainers I've ever seen, I love his podcast. I honestly just think Hillary is a vapid inconsequential bimbo -- this "scandal" is silly season. |
Now you're hyper-analyzing the mum's CV? What precisely are your credentials? You are batshit. Get a life. |
You’re ever so right. We all must repent.

I've done the math and Hilaria Baldwin has spent, in her lifetime, somewhere between 300 and 1,200 days in Spain in her lifetime.
By her own admission, her prime Spain-visiting years were from early childhood to just after college, so we're likely talking about Summer trips with hard working professional parents each year for 10-15 years. Parents who likely could take 30-40 days off per year. Definitely enough time to form a strong attachment to a place, learn to mimic the language, and learn the culture. There are probably many, many Americans, some of them famous, who have similar feelings for different countries all over the world. |
I've spent even longer overseas and haven't developed an accent. Stop pretending this is a thing. |

It's apparent from all the posted videos that Alec is such a dunce he himself thought she was Spanish. You can see him egging her on to speak Spanish while her face freezes over and clearly goes blank. She's the shyster. He's just a guy who made it apparent he found her false Spanishness exotic/attractive. So she kept it up and couldn't stop.
It's almost like a 30 Rock episode where he keeps getting a date's ethnicity wrong until they just shrug to themself and agree that they are whatever he keeps saying. |
He was obviously in on it, he's surrounded by lawyers, CAA, and NBC-Uni, but perhaps he overestimated her Spanish acuity. It's cute how codependent you yentas are on this scandal and all the fan fic; as if you're the only miserable SOBs in America with google prowess. Most of the actors, athletes and/or politicians you worship are pathological liars. Who freaking cares? Exposing the privileged cute trollop from Boston is not going to find you a husband or make you fertile or buy you a custom house in a premier zip. Your life remains, well, miserable. |
I agree that this girl's false victim narrative is horeshit. My parent's were Cuban refugees and never really learned to speak English. None of their children growing up in the 70s felt "humiliated" or "discriminated" or "erased" because teachers may have mispronounced our names. The woman who wrote this article seems to feel hurt and erased at every juncture of her life for being an "immigrant" since moving here at age 8. That's a consequence of her generation choosing to be overly sensitive to every slight while ignoring the huge generosity and kindness of a nation that welcomed her and people who have no obligation to learn to pronounce foreign names from everywhere in the world. I'm sure this woman herself does not properly pronounce Chinese names, Korean names, French names. No, honey, your identity was not forever erased because a teacher pronounced your name Allie instead of Ale or Alejandrina. Equating that adjustment to trauma is ridiculous. Hilaria did not hurt me or my parents or immigrants. The people Hilaria hurt are the Hispanic actors competing for publicity and sponsorships and magazine covers and stories. She had agents and representatives seeking out opportunities to appear on Spanish TV, magazines, and English speaking media as well, promoting her "diversity" no doubt. Its important to understand that these publications and media are inundated by agents/representatives agitating for a spot for their client. It's a competition for the advancement of their careers. These media opportunities advanced her career and the cash in her purse. And she, no doubt, sought them out in competition against others seeking the same exposure. Cheating in competition is immoral and repugnant. Alec complains a lot about money and lives an extravagant lifestyle that needs to be replenished. They are both in on this Lucy and Ricky sideshow and have milked it for all the cash it they could get. And it is AMAZING that this man has spent four year bashing Trump and Trump voters -- many of these voters saw no other options because they could no longer tolerate an elite political class ignoring their economic desperation. While he and his sideshow wife can cheat and lie to replenish their bank accounts by pretending to be progressive, diverse, sensitive to race and immigrants. I don't feel sorry for him at all. He deserves to be blasted almost worse than she since he's the worst imposter. |
300-1200? I'd put it at more like < 14 nights, total. Lifetime. |
I've spent about 800 days in Spain and another 21,000 days in Spanish speaking Latin America. I also speak Spanish regularly both at work and with my family. I have ZERO accent speaking English. None. Zip. NADA. This is not a thing. I also find your math EXTREMELY generous. |
This is so AB, don't you think? The "yentas" is a recurrent word. Trollop is an old word. (Who uses that?) And NBC-Uni is very insider-y. |
The tired rant that everyone who spends 24-7 on social media are just fat losers with no money and bad lives. Oh, Hillary and Alec do that too, along with hundreds of other really rich famous perfect attractive celebrities. You obv are old, and do not know modern world |
