s/o recommended reading for parents getting involved with a Title I school

Hi everyone-- my DH and I are hoping to get involved with our neighborhood Title I school, which our DD2 will likely attend. I am definitely at the beginning of the learning curve re: education generally! Can anyone recommend some books, blogs, articles, etc. that have helped you be an informed and effective parent at such a school?

"Such a school", based on my observations with Title I schools, they are not different from non Title I schools.
Still, I would recommend reaching out to your local PTA and/or teachers with whom you'd like to volunteer/focus on.
Good luck.

To understand the factors that might impact students who live in poverty and how to address them, I suggest reading Eric Jensen's "Teaching with Poverty in Mind" and any of his other books.

Paul Tough has two good books on education - How Children Succeed (which is more general) and Whatever It Takes (which is about an initiative in Harlem, but still a really interesting read).

This was recommended by the new principal at our title I school. I haven't yet had a chance to read it, but I plan to:

start the process now of getting certified as a DCPS volunteer. with the TB test, fingerprinting, and background check it can take a while. The PTA might have stuff you can do before then, like helping with fundraisers.
