White subway tile

Is white subway tile going to look dated a few years down the road? I'm thinking of a bathroom redo.

Nope. It's a classic look.

The kind with dark grout might, but in general it's a very safe bet.

Op here- classic!!! I knew you were all women of refinement and taste!!!

Yeah- the thin glass tile. I loved it two years ago. Now I'm kinda with you on it. Not that it isn't attractive ( please don't be offended if you have said tile. I'm certain it looks awesome in your home!).

Black grout is so tempting. Seems easy keep looking good, no?

Also...

I kinda love penny tile... I'm thinking THAT is a bit trendy. Maybe a little row of it? Like a stripe? I Was thinking black.

Penny tile was "in" 50 years ago. I say it's another classic look- go for it. I did penny tiles in our guest room and love it.

I think it could look dated. Where you are safest is if your home is from the right era for subway tile, but in other homes I'm not sure that it won't look trendy or passé. Let's face it subway tiles are very popular and very cheap. I have a home built in the 1950s and I'm struggling with subway vs 4x4 tiles which are period appropriate.
