DC has her heart set on Pratt. I am not sure how I feel about sending her to NY City, however she is going to apply. is Pratt a good school? Will you please give suggestions on other art schools with good science and math programs. She has mentioned architecture several times. So that might be a possible direction. |
Look at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. It's also in NYC and is VERY selective. It's a very small school and, up until this year, it was tuition-free. This year's freshman class is the 1st to have to pay tuition, but the tuition is still low as compared (maybe around $20,000/year). It might be too small for many kids, but it's a great school and right in Manhattan.

Sis went to Pratt decades ago, and it was a good school then. Look at MICA and RISD. |
Pratt is amazing! That part of Brooklyn is just wonderful. She should go if that's what she wants. Going to School in NYC (I went to a different one) was one of the best things I ever did. I met so many interesting people and there is tons to do besides just going to college parties. Pratt's industrial design program is very highly thought of.
Cooper Union is virtually impossible to get into so I am surprised it was even recommended here. |
