It's so frustrating, OP! It happens so often - even outside of applications. I'm constantly amazed at the number of Americans outside of this area who don't "get" what DC really is….they simply don't know, have never been taught and don't realize anything. It's shocking, really! |
I agree! It is very aggravating to have to call and ask them to add DC to their pull down list of 50 states. One clerk told me that DC was not a part of choices because it was not a state, and that we had to reside in a real state to be able to apply. I asked what excluded DC from their eligibility, and couldn't get a real answer to it. The eligibility listed on their website was that you had to be a resident of the United States. |
Wow, that is really pathetic.
I once bought children's clothes online from a major retailer with no stores in DC--so according to current regulations, no tax should have been added. I noticed later that they had added sales tax to the total cost. When I contacted them to complain, they said they had collected taxes on behalf of Maryland. !!!! |
I would tell you that as DC residents we should all call our representatives to fix this problem because we all pay taxes and deserve to be treated better, but….wait... |
