| We sold a house end of June last year. We hadn't yet paid the property tax on it through our mortgage by the time we sold, but we paid before closing. The amount we paid doesn't show up on that 1098 and it also doesn't show up on the HUD-1 from closing. Where can I find this number of how much property tax we paid? Will the title company or FFX county send me a record of how much we paid? |
| It should be in your settlement documents. |
| It's definitely not in our settlement documents. It wasn't paid right at closing. It was something the title company paid before closing using our escrow amount. Should I contact the title company? |
Don't you have the statement from your old mortgage servicer? |
Yes. I have my form 1098 from the house I sold. It shows 0 paid in property taxes! I even checked online. It says that that mortgage company released my escrow without paying property taxes. |
If it was paid from the escrow amount, then you should get a closing statement from your mortgage provider. Do you have a web account with your mortgage provider? Most mortgage providers have accounts for users to check their balances and records. If not, contact your mortgage provider to see if you can get a final record for the account reflecting the last property tax payment amount from the escrow. |
Yeah, call your title company. Also contact the real estate agent. |
| OK thanks. I didn't know if I was still waiting on this form to be sent to me of if it was something I needed to hunt down. |
