cream for dark spots around eye area?

yikes! I'm starting to notice slightly discolored spots in the area under my brow line and above my upper eyelid. Sort of like liver spots--must get them under control before they get darker! I'm light skinned with no freckles, and the skin there is fairly translucent, so this can't pass for freckles. Anybody have a product they think works?
