Best beach to go to close to Disney?

We have one ticket left from our last trip to Disney. Would like to do 1 Disney day and head to the beach.

Where can we go that is 1-2 hours from Orlando?

Cocoa Beach is about an hour from Disney. It's nice, if touristy. Further south is Vero Beach, which is quieter.

Cocoa Beach is not a winner. Native Floridian here. Not a decent hotel in the whole town. Beach is s bit of a mess. It's hard to find a good beach. I would drive to Vero like PP suggested.

I'm the PP and a native Floridian as well. I think your view of Cocoa is a bit harsh. I've stayed at a couple of hotels there and found them OK, like the Radisson across from the port.

For a week it's not where I'd stay, but would be fine for a overnight/weekend.

When we do a day trip from my brother's house in Orlando we go to New Smyrna. It has beautiful wide beaches like Daytona, but it's quieter and nicer.

Cocoa Beach is OK. The Doubletree, which is in a quieter part of Cocoa Beach, away from the pier and north of downtown, is a nice hotel.
