DD not learning in K

Anonymous
The new assessments have just been done and we asked for the results we saw that DD has not progressed in math and reading levels since she started K. Should we be concerned? She started at an above average but not very high level.

Assuming the teacher isn't concerned, i wouldn't be unless you see other red flags. A lot of kids aren't ready for the rigors of today's kindergarten. My kids picked things up slowly in kindergarten but were star students in first grade.

Wouldn't be too concerned about the assessments. Could have been due to the time spent on them or how interested your child was that day.

What does the teacher say? Does the teacher think the assessments accurately reflect what your dd is capable of? Is she still on grade level (whatever that means for kindergarten)?
