Help me with ideas to start my own business

Anonymous
I am 40 now and so burnt out with job that I am ready to quit. A new job search over last 3 months does not look promising, more of the same.
I need to work flexible hours, doing something that I enjoy so that I can continue for another 20 years. I am ready to spend 1-2 years to build the business without any real income. If I enjoy the work, I am sure I can work long hours being my own boss.

Any ideas and pointers on what I can do and how? I am in tech management(150K per year) and open to either tech or non tech service oriented ventures. I know it is a long shot with such an open ended question, but I just dont know where to begin.

Start browsing magazines like Inc. and others geared at tech entrepreneurs and start-ups. This is not my field, so I don't have any specific ideas, unfortunately. Good luck!

Maybe you can freelance from home for established companies. I know a few techies who do that and make quite a lot of money.

Thanks, any idea how I can find these?

Contact a tech recruiting company and explain what you have in mind.
