If so, please share. I'm going to tour it this week as a possibility for my 3 year old. I was surprised to find that they currently have openings as most of the centers I'm looking do not. I would think with being so close to Garrett Park Elementary that they'd be full of younger siblings, so that makes me suspicious that something's may not be right. |
I think they just started their full day program in the last year. Many (most?) local families seem to send their kids to the GP Nursery School co-op (which is not full day or week), but I believe that the MCCA is used for before and after care by GPES families quite a bit. I spoke to the director there last year, but we ended up going with another option that starts at 2 yo. |
My DD goes to K at GP. She didn't go to MCCA but many of our neighbor's kids did. I've never heard anything other than great reviews. |
Hi -- I'm just bumping this thread to see if there are any more recent responses/thoughts about this center. OP, if you're still out there, what did you think of your tour? Did you end up enrolling your daughter? |
OP here. Both DH and I toured at different times and we both liked it. DH even went with DC, who participated in an activity and (thank God) exhibited some manners, for which he was praised by one of the teachers.
But we didn't enroll, mainly because we also have a 7 month old and wanted to keep the 2 together for convenience--they're in an in-home daycare with a mix of ages. We're still thinking about trying to enroll him in late summer/fall when the baby is a little older. But that will depend on whether they have any openings. |
Thanks OP! (And, I don't know where I got the idea that you were enrolling a daughter, since you didn't say anything like that in your original post. Sorry about that!)

I'm bumping up this thread because we are considering this preschool (which currently has openings) and wondering if any current or former parents can comment. |
Went on a tour today and was told they have openings for the Fall 2016 because they are opening up a new classroom and are no longer doing to GP ES after care programs there. We are enrolling our 3.5 year old daughter for Next year in the 2 full day per week class. This is one of the few options in the area that does a part time full day program either 2 day (tues/thurs) or 3 day (mon/wed/fri) although their half day isn't your typical half day of other area preschools that only offer 9-12. This one goes from 9-3 which is kind of nice too. |
I toured and liked it but one question I had was about naps. I found with my 4 year old that she absolutely could not nap anymore after age 4 and this center doesn't have a separate room for non-nappers to play. This became a big issue at another center she attended so I probably wouldn't choose another preschool with forced rest/napping. But maybe current parents could comment |
Bumping this thread. Doing a tour next week at MCCA Garrett Park and hoping to get some feedback if parents like it? Would be for a 3 y/o. |
One of my friends had her youngest go there and was happy with it, but then for some reason had her switch mid-year to a Montessori school in that area. I don't know why she switched, but I do remember her saying she was really pretty happy with it. |
Bumping for more recent opinions? |
I sent my child to MCCA GP and loved the younger kids classroom. The older kids classroom is not as good due to the lead teacher. |
We love MCCA GP. It’s a great little daycare with loving and kind teachers. Only down side is that they don’t provide
Other options during nap time. It’s a really small little place so they just can’t staff something like that (it’s when they get a break). |
Could you advise which aspect of the lead teacher is concerning? I'm considering their older kids program and sincerely appreciate your insightful inputs. Thank you! |
