Dating profile question: Want kids? Yes, maybe, no

Anonymous
If your answer is "no" and you know it, it's best to put it out there or leave it for later as the conversation comes up? And are men who have a kid generally better matches than men who don't (and in their 40's)? I'd guess a man who is in his 40's with no kids is probably that way by choice, and not interested in a woman with kids anyway.

Always best to be honest up front. Weed out the ones that aren't a fit.

I would be honest up front

I am fairly young have one child and would like to have several more. so this is important to me.

If your a go with the flow then dotn worry about it but if its out the question I would bring it up early on.

Or may be the man just too his time choosing or simply things didn't work out the way he was planning and he woke up being over 40 with no kids, and is now looking for someone to make up the missed time and have a kid with, so a woman with a child would not be a problem

No children with men over 40 because of the increased risk of mental defects like autism.

I hope you never have children at all, NT or otherwise.

not the pp, but what's wrong with that? Men probably go for the younger trophy wife because they don't want children with downs syndrome.

nope. why?

Isn't there an evolutionary push to reproduce healthy strong babies to continue your gene pool?

I recently remarried. Met my DH on line. He is in his 40s. I have one child, he didn't bring any to the mix. He didn't have any children because he'd never met the right person to marry. Had spent his 20s finding himself and his 30s building a great career. in He loves kids, is great with them, has two godsons (friends' children), and was thrilled to meet someone with a child. It gave him the family he thought that he could never have.

I wrote "have kids" but "don't want kids" on my profile, because I didn't want more and didn't even think that stepchildren in the house would necessarily work for me.

We found each other, we're happy, and it works.

That's wonderful - I'm glad to hear your happy ending. It gives me hope, though faint.

I had to chuckle at this logic. While there is an evolutionary push to reproduce, it is the act of getting the younger woman in bed that compels the man to bed her, NOT his desire to produce healthy children. Mother Nature is a cynic and very pragmatic that way.

But the younger woman presents a more fertile bed to plant the seeds for his potential offspring, whether he is conscious of it or not. This perception is the pragmatic point for mother nature.

Men all over the world, rich or poor, old or young, cityslicker or country bumpkin exhibit the same behavior.
