Infertility Support and Discussion
| My friend wants to go through fertility treatments to have a biological child. Any thing I should let her know or advice? She is aware that she might have to use donor eggs. I really want this to happen for her but I hope the fertility doctors are setting her expectations that this might not be easy. |
| seriously...she needs to go straight to donor eggs. |
She should have no problem with donor eggs, assuming she is otherwise healthy. Success rate is over 70%. |
| I don't think any other fertility treatments would give her any chance at all, other than donor eggs (well, or donor embryos). She should start reseraching those options right away. |
| Well, I don't think any REs in the D.C. would take her for IVF, but they may do IUIs if her numbers aren't bad. |
| REs would probably be willing to take her...but with the provision that she uses donor eggs. Dr. Sacks at Columbia sees a lot of older patients, so she might have luck there. |
IUI is contra-indicated based on her age. The initial tests the RE does will determine her ovarian reserve and give her some more info. Hard to say without knowing that. Of course she could do donor eggs but you mention that she wants a biological child. |
