Is anyone on here an employee at a university in the tuition exchange and have their child going to another university on the reciprocal list, tuition-free?
I'm wondering about the process of applying etc. Thanks |
The university I work at doesn't do an exchange, just a tuition credit for a percentage if my child attends another accredited U.S. university. Didn't know there was an exchange like this. Is it a Catholic thing? |
In DC catholic, GW, AU, and trinity are member schools. |
Not a Catholic thing, but don't know if it's available much anymore. In some cases I remember there was only a student for student swap which made it difficult go match up. |
Who is in this exchange? Like PP 14:37, my university employer covers a portion of tuition at an accredited college or university. |
GW participates in Tuition Exchange, and 4-6 children of staff members per year get tuition covered at one of these schools: http://www.tuitionexchange.org/vnews/display.v/SEC/Families%7CMember%20Schools It's by application so I'm not sure how many apply and get in. |
The Ivy universities and Stanford do something like this for full time faculty. |
I interviewed recently for a job at a college (not in DC) as a staff member. One of the benefits was that if I stayed 7 years, my child could get 50% off that college's tuition at any college. A pretty amazing benefit! My friend's mom worked at a small college and she got tuition remission (I'm not sure if it was all or partial) at another school, but she had to select from the schools on a particular list. |
Georgetown does this. |
At GW, it's by seniority, so the faculty who have been at GWU the longest get priority. |
This is one of the primary reasons I continue working there. The salary is meh but with three kids going to college this benefit really helps. |
How does this work? Student must apply and be accepted to schools on list. Then what's the application process for the scholarships? Only 4/6 a year? |
OP you need to talk to HR about tuition benefits. There are commonalities but the details are going to be specific to your institution. |
