Re: field trips, I found that the county camps at the college park soccer place did them.

OP, do you have a SmartLink account? Most of the county camps have multiple sessions over the summer.

My child has aged out of a lot of stuff, but some camps he enjoyed in recent years included art camp at the Brentwood Art exchange (this was especially terrific), another art camp that was offered at the Prince Georges Community Center, soccer camp in College Park, and a handful of others over the years. Some sounded so cool, but were too far away (culinary camp, skateboard camp)

Outside of the county programs, he's gone to some outdoor knowledge and survival programs run by Ancestral Knowledge that were really cool.

Yes. Ancestral Knowledge is fantastic: http://www.ancestralknowledge.org/

Artworks now has great art camps.
Also, check out UMD camps. Terpquest is good. Individual departments sponsor camps and there are lots of sports camps.

OP, here's the link to get started with SmartLink, so you can browse through the county's offerings. I think registration for county residents opens at the end of February. Somewhere in here you can even search by facility. It might not all be in their database yet, though.

Last summer Maryland International Day School in Fort Washington did field trips to the Smithsonian, the Zoo, Watkins Park, and also visited an area pool once a week. Music was an integral part go the daily camp experience and Spanish immersion is offered also.

I've heard only good things about ArtWorks and Gymkana though we have skipped those and gone with cheaper options.
