I've had mismatched dinnerware for as long as I can remember. It's time to invest in a nice matching dinnerware set!
I want something nice, but I don't want something too nice that I'd be afraid of breaking by accident. A simple white, microwave-safe, dishwasher safe, toddler-safe, utensil safe dinner plate and salad plate. Not too trendy, more classic, something I can use for everyday use as well as for more formal occasions. Something that won't be discontinued 5 years from now. Any recommendations? |
This may be low-brow, but we have had the Corelle (sp.?) dinnerware sets for years.
They are perfect for the microwave and dishwasher, don't chip and don't break easily. |

We got Homer Laughlin from a restaurant supply store years ago. If you can find one here that sells to the public the prices are very low. They make other styles than fiesta ware which is available in white now. Lead free, made in the USA, lasts forever. https://www.fiestafactorydirect.com/p-1147-dinner-plate-white-466.aspx?pid=213 https://www.fiestafactorydirect.com/p-2055-4-pc-place-setting-with-java-mug-white-832.aspx?pid=212 http://www.amazon.com/Homer-Laughlin-467100-Fiesta-White/dp/B0092TS31I/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1422015423&sr=1-1&keywords=homer+laughlin Search Homer Laughlin on amazon-some deals where you get 24 plates for 170. |
We have had this for ten years, and love it.

Ditto. We actually went to one of their big sales last year and added more pieces to the set that I've had for about 20 years. |
