Day Trip from Las Vegas

I'm going to be in Vegas for a business meeting and have a free weekend and want to take a day trip somewhere. Is it worth taking a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon? I've hiked Red Rock Canyon. Looking for a place to spend a day off the Strip.

Hoover Dam is a good day trip.

Valley of Fire, if you're into hiking and have a car.

Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire is a good one, that's cool. Hoover Dam is cool too.

I wouldn't do helicopter ride of the Grand Canyon but you should go and see the Grand Canyon it's awesome

I did both a small plane trip to the Grand Canyon (including a bus trip around the rim) and a drive to Hoover Dam when I was in Las Vegas the first time. Both were fascinating. Because I think it's important to see the great landmarks of the world when you can, I would probably pick the Grand Canyon in your situation. Hoover Dam is an easier trip from Las Vegas - I took my nephew to Hoover Dam the second time I was in Las Vegas - so you may have another crack at seeing it in the future. If you don't go by air from Las Vegas to see the Grand Canyon, it's a time-consuming (albeit enjoyable) journey to see it any other way.

I took day trips by bus when I was in Vegas while dh was at a conference, 1 to the Hoover demand the other to the Grand Canyon.


The Grand Canyon trio actuLly ended up including a stop at this hooverdam overlook and a halicopter ride was a possible add on.

I bought both trips on Groupon. The Grand Canyon trip was was a company called comedy on deck (I think) the guide was great, super funny. You could purchase breakfast and dinner for a super low add on also, it was a sit down, full service breakfast. The Meal voucher for the canyon was also very good.

I'm glad I went on the separate trip to the Hoover dam, even though we stopped there on the other trip, because that tour included a visit to the power plant inside the dam and much closer photo ops.

Why wouldn't you do a helicopter ride? Safety concerns?

Grand Canyon by car is more than a day trip. Worth it, but more than one day. Hoover dam if you just have a day.

When are you going? Northern AZ can get some pretty difficult winter weather, although the canyon after it snows would be awesome by helicopter.

I did a day trip kayaking on the colorado river and seeing an old gold mine - it was pretty cool.

I've done the helicopter trips to the Grand Canyon from Vegas. Awesome. I had never been in a helicopter before, and the views were incredible. We actually landed in the Canyon and ate a picnic lunch.
