It's not fair to spring this on students mid-year but I don't think it's much of a big deal. We are very, very lucky to have such a cheap system for great quality in Maryland. $150 is barely a blip on the radar. |
True, and Maryland has really held the line on tuition increases in recent years. But I fear that will change in next few years under the new budget-slashing governor. |
It's possible this is just the early warning signs of larger hikes. Maybe the school shouldn't have spent $25 million on the Cole Fieldhouse and just built a slightly smaller football/Stanford-rejects factory with just the donation money and Big10 Revenues. |

The cole field house complex is going forward with 125 million in private/big ten dollars. The state is chipping in 25 million toward the entrepreneurial/ sports medicine part of the facility. |
Faculty are being furloughed too, after 4 years of no raies, so sharing the pain. Very much tied to the state of MD's financial woes. |
