What Skin Care Product Do You Love

Anonymous
I'm 31, fair skinned, not too many wrinkles. My mother has enormous pores which I am terrified of inheriting. I haven't yet. Other than a few wrinkles I have no major skin problems and I only break out when pregnant. I wash with a glycolic face wash but put nothing else on my face. I'd like to start using something that will help keep my skin toned and young. In the past I've used some Philosophy products but would like some other opinions on what works.

I have finally found the perfect skin regimen:

At night:
Wash with MD Forte III
Use the MD Forte Rejuvenation Lotion at night
Apply Triluma (you can use Retin-A instead).

In morning:
Washing with MD Forte III
Apply Kinerase CP8
Apply Dr. Brandt's "Pores no More"
If m y skin is dry, apply MD Forte moisturizer or Clinque Dramatically Different Gel
Apply a tinted moisturizer -- I no longer need foundation
My skin has never looked better.

Are these items cheap? No. Do they really, really work? Yes.

Very important: My tinted moisturizer has an SPF of 30. This is essential, especially if you are using glycolic acid or Retin-A.

I want to try Shesiedo's 55 SPF.

I actually love Kinerase. Many years ago I tried it and was a fan. I have some leftover Nordstroms giftcards I will be using so I am not really concerned with cost.

I, too, use a glycolic face wash (MD Formulations) and scrub everyday. I have gradually been introducing the Aveeno line into my regimen - after cleansing, using a "serum" to tighten pores, reduce freckles and age spots, then the under eye cream from their line and lastly, their daily moisturizer. The Aveeno stuff can be found at CVS. I love what the glycolic cleanser and scrub does for my skin, but was finding that following up with lotions, etc., from the same line was a bit harsh. I've been very pleasantly surprised with the Aveeno. I like the price tag, too.

I use Philosophy and love it! They have a product called the Present, which gives your skin a matte finish. Instead of using foundation, I use their tinted sunscreen, Supernatural, a fantastic product. I've been using Philosophy for years, and can't bring myself to try anything else. It's not cheap, but it's also relatively affordable. Macy's, Nordstrom and Sephora carry the Philosophy line.

I use Arbonne and it is the best product I have ever used.

One final note to OP. Kinerase has two products -- one is C6 Intensive Treatment; the newer one is C8 Intensive Treatment. I have not used the C8, but it's getting much better reviews and it only costs $2 more, so when I run out of C6 I intend to switch to C8.

I think Kinerase makes some good products too. Some of them are just too expensive, though. I'm not paying $125.00 for face lotion -- I don't care how good it is. And I'm not paying upwards of $70 for a cleanser. I'd like a 14K gold toilet, too, but you know. I am willing to lay down money on products that will make a real difference, but not just to have the "best" lotion (whatever that means). These peptide treatments do seem to work. I also tried their deluxe sample of Face Lift -- which is 150 -- and it does not work. Sometimes in life you get what you pay for. Sometimes people think that everything expensive is better. The key is learning how to walk to line. Shop smart. I always think of it as a contest between me and the retailer. The less money I can pay for the best quality products = I win. I wait for Sephora to send me money off or to be offering a great promotion code and then I buy. I think it's an issue of self-esteem. Buy this cream and your whole face will lift in 5 minutes! Yeah, right.

But I'm sure their cleansers and lotions are probably very nicely textured, smell great, not greasy . . . whatever. If money were no object, I might try, But moisturizer is moisturizer. It's OK to go for a premium brand -- but $125 seems very, very high to me. I'd feel like a fool.

But the C8 Peptide -- go for it!!!

Cetaphil to clean your face twice a day.
And a 30 spf sunblock. Kiehls is my favorite, because it doesn't really feel like sunblock. Don't forget to put it on your hands as well.

Honestly sunblock, daily, even in winter, is the best beauty gift you can give yourself. Take it from a very fair skinned 42 year old who always gets mistaken for being about 30. I've been using sunblock since I was 20.
