How do you do it? Our basement was redone, and there's so much dust on the first floor. The workers covered it sometimes, but went several days without covering some couches and chairs and now they have dust all up in them. I'm having a lot of anxiety about this. Do we just hire a deep cleaning team? Is there a cleaning service that specializes in this? I'm not sure our regular housekeeper is necessarily equipped, since she uses all our equipment and we don't have anything special. |
Why not ask the housekeeper?
We just used a regular shop vac and a wet rag for the walls. I don't think you need special equipment. Didn't your remodel include paint? We had to clean extensively before painting so the dust wouldn't get in the paint. |
I guess we could, but we'd have to borrow a shop vac. They did paint downstairs, but didn't clean up anything from the first floor for it. |
Ask some builders who they use to clean the house before showing it. It requires a different kind of cleaning that most house cleaners are willing or able to do. Maybe ServPro? |
Shop vacs cost very little and it's sort of something that's beneficial for any homeowner to have. You can grab a bucket-top shop vac for like $25. A nicer one will be more, but the bucket-top ones are very functional and take up almost no space. |
