Transfer Didn't Work on 1st Try

Anonymous
I had my FET yesterday and it took them 3 tries to transfer the embryo. Each time it looked great and the doc was surprised each time they said it didn't transfer - supposedly only happens in 5% of transfers. They said not to worry but of course I am. Anyone have any experience? Thanks!

Yep--I just had this experience with my last transfer.

Take 1:
Watching the screen..."see" the embryo transfer (via a droplet of solution)...they go re-check the catheter...embryo is still in the catheter.

BP SOARS!

Take 2:
Watching the screen..."see" the embryo transfer...catheter is re-checked and the embryo is no longer in there.

The RE said that means it was an extra sticky embryo and she was right...I'm 9w. I hope you have the same good luck, OP!

This happened to me on my last transfer--it took them two times and then they thought they were going to have to do it a third time, but the embryologist said it was only the zona that was left in the catheter. We did not get pregnant although it was supposed to be sticky. My RE was surprised that a) the embie didn't come out the first time and 2) that we didn't get pregnant. My DH is convinced that the RE botched the transfer and damaged the embie in the catheter. We switched clinics after that because we didn't like the RE amongst other reasons.

I hope it is a sticky one for you!
