Anyone currently have a child there? I would like current feedback about the school, especially for the earliest years (PK-1st grade), as well as quality of before/aftercare.
We have some friends who are there for Pk3. They are very happy with before and after care. They like the school, but it is very academic. I think it is a lot more structured than they thought it would be.
Is there really no one on this board with a child there?

I don't know what it's like now, but since no one is posting I'll just say I didn't like the reception I got 2 yrs ago when I visited the school and when I spoke to the principal at an open house. I didn't get a good vibe at all about how my child might be treated there (we're African-American), because of how dismissive the principal and some staff were. And there were other non-Black folks in both situations, the way they were treated was starkly different which was the only reason I attributed the difference to race.
Hopefully that was isolated, or there are different staff now (though pretty sure principal is same), but as always you should go check it out yourself. |
I toured it last year. Great school, loved the principal.
I have friends with a child there in pk4, second year. They seem to love the school and teachers they've had and said the new building was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of natural light and outdoors space. Their child is very pleasant and we'll behaved fwiw.
Did you enroll your child? |
My daughter is in PreK3 and we love it. Her teachers are great. From what I gather of the other staff, everyone seems really engaged as well. The meals are all healthy and made that day. The aftercare is not the greatest, but they are very responsive in making sure kids and parents are happy. For the young ones its really just more play time, as to be expected. The older kids have various clubs, sports, etc.
20:04 no, we did not get in. But it was not super high in our list because of the commute.
What's the new campus like? Better or worse than the old one?
Our child is in PK3 - we couldn't dream up better teachers if we tried. We are super happy with the diversity as well. The class is truly bilingual with more than half native speakers, maybe more if you consider the # of kids that were truly bilingual. They are learning so much, but its fun and creative. I haven't heard what the long term plan is for the building, but its not a bad building, its 'fine.' My child also loves the art teachers, music teachers, librarian, etc. they do a lot of fun things so while they learn a lot of academic 'stuff' there is a good balance.
