The nurses at my clinic are so sweet and I think they are the unsung heroes of this crazy IVF roller coaster. I've seen some bashing of them on this site and I don't want to get into a debate about what clinic is best, but I just have to say my clinic's staff is awesome. They have been so supportive and I don't think I would have been able to do this cycle if it weren't for them.
Thank you |
| Not impressed with my nurse, but maybe my expectations are too high. |
Why aren't you impressed? I have been an L&D nurse for awhile now, typically caring for more complicated patients and have been thinking about transitioning to becoming a fertility nurse. |
Search this forum. Tons of threads complaining about fertility nurses. I have no idea why. My first one at SGFC was horrible, really beyond horrible (gave me bad information, over ordered thousands of dollars worth of medication for me when I didn't know any better, disappeared two days before my transfer with no work and no backup, didn't return messages, didn't use email, I could go on and on). I switched for my next few cycles at SGFC and that nurse was ok, but still not great. It wasn't until I cycled out of state that I had fabulous nurses who stayed on top of things and actually knew who I was and what was going on with me and my treatment. |
| I was at Dominion many years ago and the nurses and other staff there were unfailingly professional and supportive. I second the shout out. |
| PP, I'm at DF and I love the nurses as well as the rest of the staff, they have been incredibly supportive and I can't wait to introduce them to my baby (due in 7 weeks). |
| I'm at SG and I have a decent one now but the one before was terrible. But the one I have now is so much better than the previous one that I am grateful I have her. |

I love my nurse! She is just the right amount of compassionate, but also super organized and on top of everything!
I wrote her a hand written thank you note but do want to do a bit more. Don't really know what is appropriate? |
| I was very happy with my nurse at SG. Her communication with me went above & beyond my expectations. I just graduated and would like to send her something, as well. (Oddly I've never "met" her--she's a DE nurse in a different office than my home RE.) Suggestions welcome.... |
| Finally got a decent nurse when I switched clinics! I now have two who talk to me like I am a human and give me practical information! I think it takes a special nurse to do IF work. |
| I adored my nurse when I was at GW, but she left to another clinic. She set the bar pretty high and I have not had anyone able to fill her shoes. Good thing though I still have her as my friend and ask her questions whenever. That's the crazy thing about this entire rollercoaster, you never know that you may get a life long friend out of it. <3 my Cat! |
| The nurses have made all the difference in my last cycle, I like my RE, but she can be a bit cold and distant, whereas the nurses are always helpful. |

I had two wonderful nurses at SG. They answered all of my questions and were very patient and caring.
I also made it a point to treat them as professionals and with courtesy. If more people on this board did so, I think they'd have less to complain about. |
| I love my nurse at SG. She makes dealing with infertility a little easier. |
| I've had four. The first was the best. Nice, kept me updated, ordered my meds. All the others have have been either nice or efficient. The latest one didn't handle scheduling right and caused about four one month delays because of her failure to get me in the schedule in enough time. That said, I still prefer nice to efficient but mean. By mean I mean insensitive and rude during miscarriages. Such a vulnerable time. |
