I need someone in MD. Not willing to waste time and money with laser hair removal. |
Electrolysis is permanent, but it can be slow going. Sometimes a hair will grow back thinner 5 times before it is finally gone.
I worked on my upper lip and chin for over two years and got good results. Hair Free Electrolysis in Bethesda. |
PP, How long did you go and what are the costs? |
Meant - How long was each session? |
If I am remembering correcctly and nothing has changed, you can go for as few as 10 minutes or as long as 45, I think. Some people can only take 10 minutes at the beginning. And you start with a lower current of electricity, which is why sometimes the hair grows back.
They charge by the minute. I seem to remember paying about 60 by the time I was going for 45 minutes. Like I said, it took a long time. It was inconvenient. It is uncomfortable. Take at least 2 advil 2 hours beforehand. But if you're diligent about it, it will work. Everybody is different and can tolerate different things. I found having hair on my upper lip and chin to be absolutely intolerable for me. Waxing only made it worse. It was worth it. I knew that in the end I'd be OK and I am. It changed my life. |
How often does one have to go -- every week? every month? |
It's up to you, your time, your pain threshold, your budget, your hair, your goals. During the first year, maybe I'd go once every two weeks. During the year prior to my wedding, I went a couple times per week, took the current up to high, and made it through 45 minute sessions. I personally think the sight of hair on an upper lip -- even if it's light -- against lipstick -- is repulsive.
I worked on my brows too. Not that they were a problem, but just to shape them up. There are two women at Hair Free that I worked with. Stacey -- who is very nice, and the owner, I think her name is Carol, but I am not sure. Carol costs more per minute than Stacy because she is more experienced and can work faster in the time allotted. Stacey is competent and has a great personality, but she's a bit slower. It really all depends how you like your poison. |
Is it recommended to go several times a week? I am guessing that you had different parts worked on because the skin needs to heal and if they worked on the same area it would damage the skin. |
You can go several times a week. They know how to work so as not to damage your skin. There is no need to "heal" in between trteatments. They just move to other follicles because the follicle they worked on last time is now empty. |
