Can I adapt this recipe to make in my Vitamix?

Anonymous
Saw this recipe on another thread and I want to make it. Vitamix gurus: is there any way to adapt it to make it in my Vitamix? If so, what should I do? Thanks!

"La Madeleine’s Tomato Basil Soup

4 cups canned crushed tomatoes
12 fresh basil leaves
1 cup heavy cream
1 stick (1/4 lb) of sweet unsalted butter
Salt to taste
¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper

Simmer tomatoes in saucepan for 30 minutes. Puree, with the basil leaves, in small batches, in blender or food processor. Return to saucepan and add cream, butter, salt and pepper while stirring over low heat. Garnish with basil leaves and serve with your favorite bread. "

I think the only problem is that the tomatoes will be raw, rather than cooked, if you blend it in your Vitamix, and then it's a really different taste. I know you can run soups for 5 mins or so in the Vitamix and it will warm up the soup, but I don't think it will get rid of the raw tomato taste.

No. It will cook the tomato.

The tomatoes are canned. They're cooked anyways.
