Flashy wedding rings

When you see someone with a fairly large, flashy wedding set, do you think it's real or do you assume it's a fake?
Anonymous
I don't really think anything, but I assume it's real unless I have a reason or clues to think otherwise.

I honestly don't look because I don't care. Mine is big but I hardly ever wear it.

I wonder if it was the "original" ring or if it was upgraded on a random anniversary when the couple accumulated more money. I will say the wealthiest person I know has a very simple .33 carrot diamond and plan band. One time the topic came up about "upgrading" or replacing and sh said "this ring is the one my husband bought for me when he wanted to marry me, anything other than this ring isn't that" and I thought that was sweet.

I think of Gollum.

OP here-My original wedding rings don't fit anymore and are pretty dated. I want to buy a fake set and I've always been attracted to fairly large, flashy wedding sets. Maybe 4-5 CTTW. The sets look real enough, so I'm not worried that they will appear fake on casual inspection. But, we aren't high-rollers, either so people wouldn't expect that I'd have a big ring unless we'd gone into debt for it. I'll get what I like in the end, but just curious what other people think.

I would just buy a real diamond in the size you all can afford. Nothing like being flashy and fake.

I have a real diamond in a size that I can afford. I want something fun. I'm fine with it being fake as long as it doesn't scream fake.

+1

i don't wear fake stuff, so i assume others don't either. But 5ct pretty much demands attention, so I might wonder if it seemed out of context.

*sigh* thanks. I'll contain my blingy urges.

How old are you, OP? Feel free to unleash your inner bling maven, but know that society will judge you.

Currently, costume jewelry is the only acceptable faux. Fake wedding rings are not part of costume jewelry.

I assume that it is real, but I live in a wealthy area where many friends/neigbors have 3ct+ rings. Mine is 2.5 and I wear it everyday. Compared to others, mine is not that ostentatious.

I have a pretty big diamond, I'm sure some people think it's fake based on my old navy clothing and Volkswagen but it's a family heirloom. I'd say get a big fake ring if you want. Anyone who judges you is probably not worth your time anyway.
