A day like today is the perfect day to gather info on residency cheats

Why's school so empty? Well ward 9 couldn't make the drive.
Just look at all the charters that closed.

Shut up. Seriously. I am a DC resident with kids at a DCPS school, and I really don't understand why people obsess over this. It is a made-up problem.

Great point, at least for neighborhood schools. We had no trouble walking 3 blocks.

Usually they come early for before-school care. I worked outside the polls on Election Day in November, starting before 7 a.m., next to the curb at a WOTP school that is also a polling place. Nearly all of the early drop-offs came in Maryland cars. It was very noticeable.

It's actually a large problem. It's a theft of money out of DC taxpayer's pockets and, even sadder, a theft of services and scarce OOB spots from DC kids who would like to attend those schools but couldn't get in through the lottery.

If you are ALREADY in the school, which the cheaters gained access to, why would you care?

Can someone explain to me the allure of DCPS schools over neighboring jurisdiction schools? Are DCPS schools that much better?
Anonymous
Really, then you don't know DCPS as whole. Yesterday's enrollment for DCPS was extremely low and the weather was just cold. So, you are implying that just because snow is on the ground that the school are empty because they couldn't get their by transportation. It is not big deal but as for being a big idiot on the issue is amusing. The school employees are missing too and principal lives within walking distance of my school.

Many (including charters) are better than some schools in PG. And the before and after care is easy and affordable for parents who drop their kids on the way to work in DC.

Because I can look beyond my personal interest (and that of my child's) to see that it's wrong that someone not entitled to enroll for free in DCPS is taking the spot of another child in a school that is way oversubscribed in the lottery. And, as a taxpayer, I have a personal interest in seeing that funds are spent legally and appropriately. BTW, I reported it to the principal and confirmed that there are no tuition paying students at the school.

+1. Well said PP. 10:42, are you really so small-minded that you don't care about any problem or injustice that doesn't affect you personally?

You're not a lawyer, are you OP?

Which ones closed? I haven't heard of any closing. I am curious to know, since my kid is in school now.

These are my thoughts exactly.

My DD teacher was happy she wouldn't have a full house today. She stated that a lot of families use public transportation.

This is for Pk3, so why some much use of public transporation if all the kids are IB?
