FCPS people: How was your commute in the snow? Please include location. TIA

How was your commute? How late was the bus? I'm debating whether to drive my kids to school late because my workplace is flexible and it looks nobody has tried to drive on our street. No tracks, just snow. I know it's supposed to be fluffy, but it's below freezing and my DH said it was a little slippery earlier this morning.

Live right off of Lawyers Road in Vienna - traffic is at a crawl.

My DH ended up taking a carload of HS students along with our own this a.m. - our street has not been plowed and our neighbors without SUVs were stuck.

Falls Church to Springfield. Beltway was well below speed, Backlick Road hadn't been cleared.

1-2in of snow isn't a big deal, but it's much icier than they had anticipated.

Arlington to Tysons - a mess! Rte. 66 was a crawl, and yet people were still trying to drive too fast. Rte. 7 wasn't much better. Some people getting stuck. This was at 7:45. The roads are not icy, but the snow is sticking to the ground and not melting.

I'm shocked they are open. We drove ours in 22306 and it was slick and slow in the neighborhoods. If the metro buses are not on the side streets, I can't imagine how the school busses are going to do. Honestly, I think they are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I wish everyone a safe commute. Sounds awful. I walked to the main road to see how things are and traffic was slow and it looked like there might be an accident way ahead of us. That was enough for me to decide to bail.

I drive 30 miles to work in Chantilly from Arlington and it look me 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to work on 66.
66 was a crawl (15-20 mph) inside the beltway. 28 was a parking lot. What a nightmare!

Mclean - baron road closed with cars off the road. Some cars sliding around Churchill road, including 4WD vehicles. Non 4WD cars having trouble on 123 heading from McLean to Tysons. It's a gradual slope and apparently they can't get traction so are just stuck. Several cars off the road with police assisting them at intersection of Balls Hill and Old Dominion (the side of OD heading out to Great Falls), causing a ripple effect that jams up that already ugly stoplight. Kids standing at intersections all around OD waiting for very late buses. This at 7:30 AM. And it's only getting worse.

Henderson Rd in Fairfax blocked in both directions. Clifton road blocked near Maple Branch Rd. My spouse has been stuck in traffic for the last hour. School bus never made it into Clifton, Va.

Springfield - drove son 2 miles to school in my Subaru. Roads not clean and it was slippery. I'm staying home. Can't believe FCPS didn't do delay or close.

Fairfax City to I 66 to NW DC. Terrible. Shockingly bad. I can't recall seeing it this bad. I assumed (stupidly) that since FCPS were open, the main roads, at least, would be in decent shape. I could see that my neighborhood was untouched and covered in snow but, that's nothing new.

We're in Arlington. My neighbor is a teacher in Chantilly, and he drove back into our street this morning and said he couldn't get out there at all.

Fairfax to Great Falls. They left at 7:40, Chain Bridge to Hunter Mill to Rt. 7, and they are still stuck. I am shocked and disgusted. I put my trust in FCPS thinking they must have it all together, even though looking out my window this morning told me otherwise. Never again.

I will be picking the kids up early.
